Pindari Park is a beautiful 132 acre cliff top property that offers both North and South views of the River Murray. Situated on the bank (cliff side) overlooking the most Northerly point of the river and the township of Cadell SA.
Pindari means “From the High Ground” from the aboriginal origin and was originally apart of the Nor’ West Bend Station (est.1850) that stretched from Overland Corner to Burra. The Nor’ West Bend Station next door is now a heritage listed private residence.
With Pindari Park’s scattered native trees, saltbush, mallee scrub and river red gums that brings an abundance of wildlife to the property and the it is extremely suited to the Kalahari Red Goat.
Upon acquiring the property, Pindari Park, our aim was to embrace a self-sustaining lifestyle, while creating a stud and commercial operation that we could both benefit from and share with others.
After thorough research, we agreed that the Kalahari Red goats were the most suitable choice for our needs, our environment, our vision of a high-quality breeding animal, and success in our challenging setting.
Thus, Pindari Park Goats & Farmstay was born.
Pindari Park Goats is dedicated to practicing natural farming principles, whilst enhancing the genetic traits of registered fullblood and commercial Kalahari Reds through a selective breeding program.
Our focus is on breeding the highest quality bloodlines of Fullblood & Commercials Kalahari Red stock from Registered & DNA tested Fullblood KR sires, whilst consistently improving the breed that align with the Kalahari Red breed standards.
Kalahari Red goats excel in tough conditions and difficult terrain. Their skill in walking long distances enables them to develop strong muscles in their hindquarters and chest, resulting in high-quality meat. Their adaptability to harsh environments makes them a valuable asset in agricultural settings. With their robust build and resilience, Kalahari Red goats are well-suited for a variety of challenging conditions.
Kalahari Red does are known for their high fertility rates and excellent mothering skills. They produce abundant milk, resulting in rapid growth of their offspring. These qualities make them highly valued in the goat farming industry as they contribute to the overall success of the herd. Additionally, their efficient milk production ensures the health and development of the young goats, reflecting the superior genetic traits of the Kalahari Red breed.
The Kalahari Reds earthy colours help them blend in with their surroundings, making it difficult for predators to spot them. Their dark pigmented skins protect them from the harsh heat and strong sunlight. Their dark coats and long ears help them stay cool and comfortable, enabling them to search for food for extended periods even in the heat of the day. These features allow them to thrive in their environment and stay safe from harm.
Kalahari Reds are highly resistant to diseases, requiring fewer vaccinations and medications compared to other types of goats. Their strong immune systems help them stay healthy without the need for frequent treatments. This makes them a popular choice for farmers, producers & breeders seeking low-maintenance livestock. Their natural resilience can result in lower healthcare costs for goat breeders.
Our careful selection of bloodlines ensures that we meet breed standards and improve genetic traits in our offspring. We continuously work towards enhancing the quality of our herd by using Registered and DNA verified Fullblood Kalahari Red sires.
Our dedication to excellence ensures that our Fullblood and Commercial herds maintain the highest standards in genetics and breed characteristics of the Kalahari Red.
Our stud places great importance on sharing knowledge about the Kalahari Red goat breed and our experiences with our herd.
It is our pleasure to educate others about these goats, so that people can learn and the breed can gain more recognition.
Pindari Park Goats are currently DNA sampling all of our Fullblood and Commercial Kalahari Red herds, so the SNP information can be applied for parentage verification of our herds.
We are also evaluating research into further genomic information that will be able to provide valuable data for optimising our breeding program, including mating strategies, resulting in improved animal performance and herd quality.
